Hydroponics is the process of growing plants in water without soil. The plants get their nutrients directly from the water. 

This is not a new idea. Ancient Egyptians used this method.

Hydroponic plants are bigger and better.  Research indicates they grow about 30% to 50% faster.  They also have a higher yield of fruit or vegetables.

Most container plants are produced hydroponically. 

Billions of container plants are produced annually, including fruit, shade and ornamental trees, shrubs, forest seedlings, vegetable seedlings, bedding plants, herbaceous perennials and vines.

Following are some reasons for you to think about a hydroponic grow system.

Start-up
You won't need nearly as much area to grow your plants.  You don't need to space them according to nutrients needed.  They need to be spaced according to size of the plant.  Plant size you get to control through trimming.

Organically grown produce
You'll buy the nutrients to add to the water.  Insects and plant disease are rare so chemical cures for these won't be needed.

Ease of use
Maintaining your plants is easy . Make certain your containers are filled with water and nutrients. That's it.

Cost
If you live where there is great soil and water is reasonable it will cost more to set up a hydroponic grow system.  If you don't, hydroponics is usually less expensive.

Weeding
You will grow in water and nutrients.  It is sterile so there should be no weeds.

Less water
You won't use nearly as much water as a normal garden. If you plant a big garden your water savings could be substantial.
You might live in a dry climate.  Your water may be rationed.

Better control
You will have absolute control over growing medium.

Better production
Efficient and easy plant growth. You should have larger and heavier bearing plants.

A hydroponic grow system is perfect for growing plants. It is not expensive. It is not difficult to use. You can buy a kit or get everything you need at your local hardware store.
