Hydroponic Plants

If your hydroponic plants are going to spend all their days inside, where the environment can be controlled, then the crops you grow don't need to be matched to seasons. 

If you can control the weather than you can plant anything at anytime.  Its part of hydro gardening's beauty.

Hydro gardens supply nutrients directly to a plants small root system, allowing the plant to spend its energy growing vegetables. There are many plants that do well in a hydroponic garden.  However, almost anything can be grown hydroponically.

Here are a few hydroponic plants traditionally grown in soil that thrive in hydro gardens.

Tomatoes
Tomatoes are a great vegetable to grow in a hydro garden.  They are better tasting and have more nutrition.

Peppers
Bell peppers, banana peppers and Jalapenos are great vegetables  to grow in a hydro garden.  All varieties of peppers do really well and grow much larger and more colorful than anything you can buy at a store.

Herbs
Leafy herbs have some of the largest growth but, any herb can be grown.   Herbs are great due to the limited space they require and how often we use them when cooking.

Lettuce
Lettuces are a great choice for hydroponic gardens. Lettuce grown in hydro gardens is more colorful and have more nutrients. The most popular varieties are bibb lettuce and butter crunch lettuce. Loose leaf lettuces can be grown in hydro gardens but take a lot of room for a couple of salads.

Cucumbers
Cucumbers have high water content. They are great to hydro garden. The toughest part is controlling the vines.
